ON-GOING VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you are able to come to the school on a regular basis, even for part of the school year, there are plenty of volunteer options for you to consider, such as….

Substitute Teaching

Willy, Filling in for the Day

Long Trail School is happy to pay its substitute teachers, but is even happier to accept volunteer substitutes.

Included in this category of volunteering are duties such as

  • proctoring a test for just one class,
  • filling in for a full day, and
  • long term teaching during an extended teacher absence. If you are interested in filling in for a teacher when needed, please contact Kim Rizio (krizio@longtrailschool.org).

    Homework Club

The after school homework club is staffed by Milt Weir.  It can be helpful, at times, for willing parents to come in to work with some students in small groups. If you are interested in helping with this, please contact Milt (mweir@longtrailschool.org).

    School Library

Volunteering in our school library is a good fit for parents who love books and who would like to be present at the school on a regular basis. Our Librarian teaches at regularly scheduled times throughout the week.  At these times volunteers can serve in the library by assisting students with book selection and check out.   Training  is provided to all library volunteers.

As with many of our volunteer opportunities, this job does not require committing to full days.   If working at the Library appeals to you, please contact Stephanie Light (slight@longtrailschool.org).
